Josh Warner for Barbour
Hi, I’m Josh.
I’m a designer and creative by profession. Born in 1968, Los Angeles. I drive a Grand Prix white 1991 Porsche Targa.
My classic is squeezing the juice from what I remember of my 20’s and my dreams of serpentining the California canyons in a 911. More than having a specific meaning for me, classic is catching a vibe of a bygone era. My Uncle Lo had a pastel yellow Porsche 356, I’ve loved these cars since before I could ride a BMX bike. The Targa in particular for its unique origin and its half coupe/half open-top design. It makes my heart race.
We use this car a lot, regular road trips through the desert and up the California coast have become a meditative routine in our lives. It’s one big road trip, the best I’ve been on.
This classic is a wolf in sheep's clothing. The naturally chipped and patinaed Grand Prix white with classic Cup 1 wheels makes this particular 911 look very friendly. This car makes people smile and wave. Everything else our friends at Workshop 5001 hot rodded. Big brakes, KW suspension and the motor built by Marlon himself to 3.8L--that's what I'm smiling and waving about.
I always try to bring Rachel and Charlie Dogface on every drive. After that, it's the right jacket, hat and tunes.
It's a good question, 'what someone's car says about them'. I'm in a constant struggle to keep my mind from wondering about just that. We love cars (or don't) for our own reasons. Some reasons are deep and others vapid. Best for me to find things to admire about any car because I really love driving. My car totally suits the style of driving I love to do. That's the thing of it for me.
My love of driving 911's has most certainly stood the test of time.
Thanks Goodfight for asking about my classic and for keeping the classic vibes alive with these Barbour's.
